The Pittsburgh School of Pain Management (formerly known as the "Academy for Myofascial Trigger Point Therapy") was founded in 1995 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. We offer the only training program of its kind in the United States, and are recognized by the National Association of Myofascial Trigger Point Therapists. The school is licensed by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
The school offers a 650-hour entry level program for those with or without medical background interested in becoming Myofascial Trigger Point Therapists. Many allied health professionals also attend to expand their knowledge base and enhance their skills. Students come from all over the country. The program is taught two days per week (a Monday-Tuesday track or a Thursday-Friday track) for 12 months allowing students to continue to work while attending school.
Graduates are eligible to sit for the certification exam offered by the Certification Board for Myofascial Trigger Point Therapists. Many graduates go on to receive recognition as Fellows or Clinical Associates with the American Academy of Pain Management. Others develop their own successful practices. Some choose to work in the offices of physicians, dentists, and chiropractors and other health professionals.
